Design learning environments and activities that promote the acquisitions of skills by infants or toddlers with disabilities in a variety of developmental areas, including cognitive processes and social interaction. Provide families with information, skills, and support related to enhancing the skill development of infants or toddlers with disabilities. Working with families of infants or toddlers with disabilities to enhance the infants’ or toddlers’ development. Collaborating with a team of providers, administrators, and health professionals in weekly meetings.

Job Description

Responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance and organization of Danville Child Development Center’s facilities. Ensures safe, orderly and efficient cleaning operations by maintaining supplies, equipment and facility upkeep.

Classification: Hourly, nonexempt
Salary Range: Pay Grade 9

General Requirements

• Obtain Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History, Child Abuse and FBI clearances, as well as a National Sex Offender Registry check, before hire.

• Complete Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training within 90 days of hire and renew it according to policy.

• Complete a physical examination and tuberculosis test before hire.

• Maintain current pediatric first aid and CPR certifications as required.

• Complete job-related training as assigned.

• Meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, sitting and moving for extended periods; bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling and climbing stairs; and participating in active movement as needed to ensure child safety.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of DCDC policies and procedures, Department of Human Services regulations, and health and safety standards.

• Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, speaking and listening.

General Job Responsibilities

• Refill cleaning solutions and change sweeper bags.

• Retrieve items from storage areas, including the attic.

• Clean classroom chairs and remove paint, crayons and other marks from walls, furniture and floors.

• Assist with cleaning up children's accidents, including bodily fluids.

• Obtain bids from janitorial suppliers and coordinate supply purchases.

• Serve as the primary contact for the janitorial contractor.

• Oversee program support staff assigned to cleaning duties.

• Coordinate seasonal lawn care, snow removal and other maintenance services.

• Coordinate facility maintenance and assist with outside contractors for plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling and other major repairs.

• Report major safety violations and hazardous conditions to the Finance Director or Executive Director and address them as soon as possible.

• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

• Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director or Finance Director to support quality programming.

Specific Job Responsibilities

Daily

• Clean bathrooms and water fountains in child care areas.

• Assist with laundry.

• Wash mops and cleaning rags.

Weekly

• Clean hallway steps in the new building as needed.

• Clean the foyer and front entrance as needed.

• Disinfect staff bathrooms and empty small trash receptacles.

• Restock bathroom and cleaning closet supplies.

• Order supplies as needed.

• Wash walls and windows as needed.

• Refill teachers' disinfectant spray bottles.

• Clean air conditioner filters during summer months.

• Check outlet covers and replace missing plug covers.

• Complete additional tasks on the Center Cleaning Checklist.

Biweekly

• Scrub floors in the basement and Early Intervention area.

• Clean hallway steps in the old building.

• Check for and remove cobwebs.

• Dust pictures in center hallways.

• Approve the Janitorial Assistant's timesheets and submit them to the fiscal office on time.

Monthly

• Clean the conference room and staff lounge for scheduled meetings.

• Vacuum downstairs common areas as needed and clean the lint trap.

• Purchase and inventory supplies, maintaining the inventory chart and submitting it to the fiscal office.

• Prepare and submit the department budget to the fiscal office.

• Dust smoke alarms.

• Maintain the plant and grounds budget.

• Complete indoor and outdoor safety checklists.

Quarterly

• Clean and disinfect telephones.

• Clean the top panels and lights in the elevator.

• Clean blinds and window shades.

• Spot-clean classroom carpets as needed.

Yearly

• Wash down the back exit and stairs near the garbage cans.

Working Conditions: Working conditions are typical for an early childhood program. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
